Superintendent Introduction

Posted Date: 07/06/26 (02:54 PM)

Hello Ludlow Families, Staff, and Students,

I am excited to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of Ludlow Public Schools. My name is Sharon Cournoyer, and I officially began serving in this role on July 1. It is an honor to join this outstanding school community, and I look forward to getting to know each of you in the months ahead.

I bring more than 36 years of experience in public education as both a teacher and administrator in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Most recently, I served for the past six years as Superintendent of Regional School District 19 in Storrs, Connecticut. I began my career as a teacher in my hometown of Agawam, Massachusetts, making this return to Western Massachusetts especially meaningful.

What drew me to Ludlow Public Schools was the strong alignment between the district's vision and my own educational beliefs. I value a rigorous, engaging curriculum that challenges every student to reach their full potential, supported by a strong system of interventions that ensures all learners have equitable access to success. I also believe deeply in fostering social and emotional well-being and creating a culture where every student, family, and staff member feels welcomed, valued, and has a true sense of belonging.

Achieving these goals depends on strong relationships built through open, honest, and respectful communication. Ludlow is fortunate to have dedicated educators, staff, families, and community members who are deeply committed to the academic achievement and well-being of our students. I am grateful for the opportunity to join this collaborative community and look forward to working alongside you.

As I become acquainted with the district, I hope you will join me at one of several informal meet-and-greet opportunities planned for early August. These gatherings will provide a chance for us to get to know one another, share ideas, and begin building relationships. I am eager to hear what matters most to you and to learn about your hopes and aspirations for the future of Ludlow Public Schools.

Together, we have the privilege and responsibility of preparing our students for bright futures while nurturing the relationships, confidence, and sense of belonging that shape who they become. The partnership among our schools, families, and the broader community is essential to ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. I am excited to begin this journey with you and look forward to all we will accomplish together.

Warmly,

Sharon Cournoyer
