Updated DESE Special Education Webpages

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will officially launch an update to our Special Education webpages this summer. This update reflects our continued commitment to equity, accessibility, and user-centered design, with significant improvements aimed at both families and professionals in the field.

Key Improvements and Features:

  • Streamlined, family-friendly navigation to support clear access to special education guidance
  • Clearer pathways to access laws, regulations, and required forms in a simplified and organized format

The Special Education pages have been reworked to reduce barriers and promote digital equity for all users, and we are excited to share this with you soon. The launch is a key milestone, but it is also the beginning of an ongoing process. We are committed to continuously improving these pages based on stakeholder input and evolving needs. We encourage you to share and provide feedback once the updated site is live. We will send another notice once the update is published.

Please share the linked notification with families in your school community.

Thank you for your continued dedication to ensuring equitable access to high-quality special education services across the Commonwealth.

Best Regards,

The Office of Special Education Planning & Policy
