In our ongoing effort to support the use of technology and encourage 21st Century Learning Skills, the Ludlow Public Schools is purchasing 700 Google Samsung Chromebooks to be distributed in each of the districts 5 schools for classroom/student use at the start of the 2013-14 school year.  In addition, every classroom teacher is be given a Chromebook to help with the integration of technology to support the curriculum.  The completion of wireless access (summer 2013) in each of the district's school buildings will make the use of the Chromebooks seamless.
Chromebooks are designed to be used while connected to the Internet and support web applications rather than traditional applications that reside on the machine itself (Microsoft Word, etc). The whole idea of a Chromebook is to work in the "cloud" which means that you use software as a service provided from web-based cloud service providers.  If you want to word process a document you can access your Google Docs Account in Google Drive.  Your Google Drive Account also provides Spreadsheets, Presentations, Drawings and Forms.

Click here to view Google's help Team Chromebook Tour which is filled with a plethora of helpful step-by-step information regarding it's use.  You can also view the Google Slide Presentation below, that was created as an overview including specific information when using a Chromebook in the Ludlow Public Schools.

Should you have specific questions or concerns regarding the Chromebooks please contact the LPS Technology Help Desk.
